More Things I Don’t Have Time For?

I just found out on Twitter about a romance reading challenge. As busy as I am, reading time is always built into the schedule! How could I be a writer without reading? I hope I can use these monthly challenges to also read more wounded hero romances so the reviews will be meaningful for you! Monday Book Review: A Life Worth Living

Monday Book Review: A Life Worth Living

A Life Worth Living by Lorrie Kruse Review… Summary: Matt Huntz is a construction worker in a family business and engaged to a beautiful young woman when he has a car accident and wakes up in the hospital with damage to his spinal cord. The book follows as he works on getting function back, goes to rehab, tries to go home and deal with family and a crumbling romantic relationship. The whole time there is a question of exactly what happened the night of the accident, because Matt cannot remember. The Good: I really enjoyed this book. The first thing that really impressed me was how accurate all the details were. This is an author who definitely knows a lot about SCI (and when I interview her, I’m going to ask her about that!) From how the insurance...

State of the Union

You may have noticed there wasn’t a book review this Monday. I’m reading a book now (A Life Worth Living) that was sent to me by the author after I requested her for an interview. I’m enjoying it a lot so far and I’m looking forward to reviewing it soon and then having the author here to tell you about it. Today is usually the day when I share a free short story or an excerpt from something that I’m working on. But every once in a while I have too much going on! Believe me, my being busy is almost entirely to do with writing and you, my wonderful reader. Let me tell you a little about what’s going on! The last few weeks that I’ve put out stories, I’ve gotten some great feedback that people want more of these...

Friday Story: The Happiness Pact

I wrote this story ages ago. Like, seriously, ages ago. When I was a teenager like the characters here. I don’t know if it holds up to my later writing. I think I have been improving! It does, however, have a couple of the very sweetest love stories I’ve ever written. My fondness for Alex knows no bounds. This is another story that I might have to work on expanding. What do you think? Should I expand and rework this into a fuller piece? (Cover image from¬†http://www.sxc.hu) When geeky Sophie moves to a new school she has the bad luck to fall for the coolest guy in school. But Jake is dealing with a changing life and rescuing Sophie from her clumsiness might be just what he needs. The Happiness Pact by Ruth Madison Copyright 2011 ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Sophie sat...

The Next Big Thing

I usually don’t participate in chain-letter type things, but this seemed like fun and a neat way to connect authors and networks. It’s an interview about upcoming work and you get tagged for it. At the end I’ll tag five more authors to do the same interview on their blogs! I was tagged by R.G. Porter Due out in February 2013 (Sign up for the newsletter to get an announcement when it’s released!) ¬† What is the working title of your book? Parallel Loves Where did the idea come from for the book? The very first spark of an idea came from the experience of being a writer. I’m sure other writers will recognize this! It sometimes feels like you’re talking to people who aren’t there and they are telling you their story....
