Now in Video!

I haven’t been posting as much lately because I’m putting all my energy into finishing the first volume of my short stories. It should be ready to go to the printers very, very soon! It’s a wonderfully exciting time to be so close to having something completed.

I’ve been working on spreading my brand and doing new things to connect with people who will benefit from and enjoy my writing. I’ve started a YouTube channel and I’m putting up some videos of me talking about my writing.

So, if you’re curious what I look like and sound like, this is me! (I’m making that face because I’m trying to figure out where the off button on the video camera is!)

    Well put. Thanks 🙂

I totally agree with being frustrated about the lack good books that I feel I can relate to the characters in a romantic manner. Yeah I have found some dev related material posted online, but, most if it is not written very well and/or in a very non-realistic manner. Or at least for the male dev point of view. I kind of did a personal NaNoWriMo project a little while ago and got down like 60-70,000 words on that of a story that I could relate to. However I’m not an author, so I didn’t really plan out the plot or anything, and so while I feel like I have a good start, I have no actual clue where in the world I’m going with it. Dunno, one of these days I want to get back to it.

That many words is really impressive! You should keep working on it.

Really? It just seemed to flow out when I was doing it.

In order to keep working on it, I need to figure out what happens after they meet, start dating, fall for each other, and then….. yeah, I don’t know. I feel like it still needs some sort of conflict to it in order to keep the plot moving along, but have no clue what to do about that.

Books tend to need less conflict than we think when we are new writers. A touch of conflict is all it takes. Say, her family is suspicious of him? His friends give him a hard time and he is tempted to listen to them? She thinks that he isn’t vocal enough in sticking up for her?

Thank you for taking the time to record these videos, Ruth. If people around the world can access a video that tells them Devoteeism is OK, maybe it would be more socially acceptable.
